Inspired by the noble lineages of early Iberia, Sanguis Christianus Vetus (Old Christian Blood) evokes the 15th-century idea of descent from the first Visigothic Christians who preserved their faith through centuries of conquest and renewal. In this sense, the term “Old Christian” is another way of directly claiming Visigothic descent or “Visigothic Blood”. In the design bares an image of King Pelagius of Asturias, a Visigothic king and noblemen who led the first revolt against the invading Islamic forces and initiated what would come to be known as the “Reconquista”.
